Flooding: Nigerians React As GRV Advised Lagos Govt To Apply G-Can System In Tokyo Or Dykes In Holland

Social media users have responded in a variety of ways to Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour, the Labour Party LP candidate for the Lagos state 2023 governorship election, giving advice to Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration on how to handle the flooding issues in Lagos.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

His statement is coming after some parts of the state were flooded on Wednesday.

In the post that he shared on his page, he said Lagos state can apply either the G-Can system in Tokyo or the system of dykes in the Netherlands as solution.

He said the reason why the issue is occuring is because most parts of Lagos state had been planned in the 60s, 70s and 80s. He said when the government built the Macgregor canal in 1903, they showed forward thinking.

Here is what Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour wrote on his page;

“In the absence of forward thinking innovative solutions to the flooding problems in Lagos state, this thread is worth sharing again. The G-Can system in Tokyo and the system of dykes in the Netherlands are references we can emulate. Bare in mind that most parts of Lagos had been planned in the 60s, 70s and 80s. At least in 1903, when the government built the Macgregor canal in lagos, they showed forward thinking”.
