In light of the continuing political conflict between Governor Simi Fubara and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, the Nigerian government has acknowledged that the October Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) revenue transfer to Rivers State has been suspended. According to Daily Post, the federal government had approved the distribution of N1.1411 trillion for October 2024 FAAC revenue to federal, state, and local governments.
However, reports emerged that Rivers State did not receive its share after a Federal High Court ruling halted the disbursement.
Mokwa confirmed that the OAGF is following the court’s directive, noting that the October FAAC allocation has not yet been distributed to any state.
Justice Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court issued the injunction following a case filed by the factional Rivers State Assembly led by Martin Amaewhule.
The lawsuit claimed that Governor Fubara had failed to comply with a previous court order to re-present the 2024 appropriation bill to the Amaewhule-led assembly.
This legal battle is part of a larger political rift in Rivers State, where Fubara and Wike, former allies, have been in conflict since Fubara took office.
