Etiti: Amobi Ogah, Let nobody come and distract us in the name of we are Igbos in Delta and Rivers

In the House of Representatives, Honorable Amobi Ogah, the lawmaker for the Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Constituency, has expressed support for the establishment of Etiti State in the southeast of Nigeria. Ogah underlined in his remarks—which were included in a Channels TV video—the significance of striking a balance between the number of states in the southeast and other parts of the nation.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Ogah argued that the southeast should have six states, similar to the number found in other geopolitical zones in Nigeria. He pointed out that if Etiti State were created, it would consist of approximately 18 to 20 local government areas. This, he believes, would address the long-standing imbalance in state representation for the southeast.

The lawmaker stressed that the discussion should remain focused on achieving parity for the southeast with the rest of the country. He dismissed distractions that could arise from calls for the creation of new states in areas where Igbos reside outside the southeast, such as Delta and Rivers states. According to Ogah, these areas should not be the priority at this stage.

In his words, Ogah stated, “Let nobody come and distract us in the name of we are Igbos in Delta State, Rivers State. It is not what we are talking about. Give the southeast what is due for them, balance the southeast. Give southeast 6 states like other zones. We are not even talking about 7 states.”

By emphasizing the need for equitable state distribution, Ogah aims to ensure that the southeast region receives the political recognition it deserves, further contributing to national unity and fairness in governance.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
