In a statement, Professor Rhoda Gumus, the INEC National Commissioner overseeing Edo State, made it clear that she would never accept bribes. She claimed that she wouldn’t hesitate to decline an enormous amount of money, like a billion Naira, if it were offered to her. She added that individuals are well aware of her steadfast commitment to integrity. She stated that they understand the futility of attempting to compromise her because her reputation for ethical conduct precedes her. She emphasized that her character remains a deterrent to any form of bribery, as she have consistently demonstrated unwavering honesty throughout her career.

She highlighted that her dedication to upholding the highest ethical standards is not only a personal value but also a well-known fact. She said that those who might consider offering a bribe are fully cognizant of her unassailable moral standing, and they know better than to make such a futile attempt.

She said in an interview with Channels Tv, “Let me be clear, I will not accept any bribes. Even if someone offered me a billion Naira, I wouldn’t take it.
