EDO: APC Warns Yiaga Africa, You're Overreaching Your Observer Mission, Stop Questioning Results

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a strong warning to Yiaga Africa, a civil society organization, over remarks it made regarding the outcome of the recently concluded Edo State gubernatorial election, as PUNCH reported. In a statement by Felix Morka, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, the APC accused Yiaga Africa of overstepping its role as an election observer.

Morka said the group had no right to challenge INEC’s results and should not act as a parallel agency for declaring election outcomes.

He added that Yiaga Africa’s allegations of result manipulation were baseless and lacked evidence.

The APC criticized the civil society group for relying on speculative data and said its report contained flaws and inaccuracies.

According to Morka, Yiaga Africa’s claims about the election were a “disservice” to the electoral process.

Morka stated that election observers like Yiaga Africa should respect INEC’s role and avoid creating confusion by questioning the results without clear evidence.

He warned the organization against using unverified statistical methods to challenge the election outcome.

“Yiaga Africa is overreaching its election observer mission by second-guessing INEC on the result of last Saturday’s Edo State gubernatorial election.“

“INEC is the sole statutory authority for the conduct and declaration of election results. Yiaga Africa is not and must desist from constituting itself as a parallel agency for the declaration of election results.”

“Alleging that results were manipulated without hard facts and figures, but based on some statistical guesswork, is a clear disservice to the electoral process. Yiaga Africa’s report is a travesty, replete with methodological flaws, politicised observations, inconsistencies, and inaccuracies,” Morka stated.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
