The Labour Party’s deputy national chairman, Dr. Ayo Olorunfemi, has drawn attention to the manner in which Edo State policemen disarmed the DSS officers who were escorting Barrister Julius Abure, the national chairman of the party, on the grounds that he was in possession of a firearm, without conducting a search of his home or place of business beforehand. He objected to the arrest scenario in which the police allegedly found Abure in possession of firearms and challenged him in a hotel. He said in an interview with AIT, ”The kind of arrest that was made in Edo is a shameful one and evident that our security agency, particularly in Edo State doesn’t have any shame left in them. You went and accosted somebody in the hotel and you are claiming the person has firearms.

The policemen disarmed the DSS that were guiding Abure and claimed he had a gun. They didn’t tell us they had searched his house or his office. Who does that in the 21st century in Nigeria?
