He asserted that Oseni’s achievements do not match his own, saying that the lawmaker should check his pedigree.
Umahi, a former governor, emphasized his commitment to any task he undertakes, stressing that no one has ever accused him of failure.
He further noted his respect for the Speaker and the National Assembly as reasons for not engaging Oseni’s criticisms more directly.
He remarked, “His (Oseni’s) time is very damaging to the wonderful institution of the National Assembly, especially the 10th National Assembly.
“For the respect of the Speaker, and, of course, the Senate President and the National Assembly institution that I belong to, I will refrain myself from joining issues with him.”
Responding to the allegation of neglect, Umahi clarified that his focus on financial management is central to ensuring the sustainability of Nigeria’s road maintenance budget.
He explained that his efforts to address “Variation of Price” concerns are a necessary intervention, accusing Oseni of echoing the sentiments of contractors rather than serving the best interest of the public.
He argued that these price variations have historically drained limited resources allocated for road projects, thus necessitating careful oversight.
He said, “He said I have failed. No one in life ever said I have failed and I have never failed in anything I am involved in, and if he likes he should go and check my pedigree. I believe God has to be with him to attain half of what I have attained in life.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
