Council Chairman Suspended by Oyo Assembly Due to Viral Video

Olusola Oluokun, the chairman of Oyo East Local Government, was suspended by the Oyo State House of Assembly in response to a widely shared video that caused a great deal of controversy. According to The Nation, the video depicted Oluokun in a half-naked state, praising a political figure who supported his rise to the chairmanship.

 

 

In the footage, he also reportedly cursed those he viewed as enemies of his benefactor.

His behavior was deemed inappropriate for an elected official.

In response to the incident, the Assembly established a committee to investigate the matter.

Until the investigation is complete, the Vice Chairman will assume Oluokun’s duties.

Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin condemned the actions of the suspended chairman, stating that the Assembly would not tolerate such indecent conduct among public officials.

He emphasized that the swift action taken reflects the Assembly’s commitment to upholding the integrity and dignity of elected offices.
