Concerned about the dethronement, Vice President Kashim Shettima calls for the protection of the Sultan of Sokoto.

Vice President Kashim Shettima has highlighted the need of defending and defending Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, calling him an institution of great worth. Akintola had alerted the public to an alleged scheme by the Sokoto government to depose the Sultan, following the removal of 15 traditional rulers by the state Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, for various infractions.

In a statement issued on Monday, Akintola asserted that any attempt to dethrone the Sultan would be firmly opposed by Nigerian Muslims.

Addressing the issue at the ongoing North West Peace & Security Summit in Katsina State, Vice President Shettima underscored that the Sultan transcends the role of a mere monarch, embodying a significant idea and principle.
