CJN Inaugurates Family And Friends Judiciary Division—According to Odinkalu On Wike’s Wife, CJN’s Son Appointment

In Nigeria, the judiciary recent events have cast a shadow over the integrity of the judiciary.

Political favoritism and nepotism have taken over the process of judicial appointments.

One of the main example of this troubling trend was the recent list of appointments to the appeal court.

The wife of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, and family and friends of CJN also secured a position.

This appointment raised eyebrows and sparked widespread debate about the fairness and transparency of the selection process.

Reacting to this development, Odinkalu expressed his thoughts.

“As Chief Justice of #Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola inaugurates the #FamilyAndFriends division of the #NigerianJudiciary today, here is a brief peek into why he himself is the most qualified to perform that task. He is not the only one though. We will have a few more illustrations,” Odinkalu wrote. 

Odinkalu’s statement highlights a growing concern among Nigerians about the state of their judiciary.

The judiciary is supposed to be an independent body free from external influences.

However, the increasing instances of nepotism and political favoritism threaten its independence.

The recent appointments has brought calls for a more transparent and merit-based selection process.
