The National Youth Council of Nigeria’s (NYC) Rivers State Chapter Chairman, Chijioke Ihunwo, has addressed the dispute about the 21 LGA chairmen whose terms expire on June 17, 2024, because they are refusing to step down. He claimed that the departing chairman of the Ikwerre LGA, Samuel Nwanosike, was observed getting ready for battle while donning a bulletproof vest. He urged the Commissioner of Police to address this concerning circumstance and take action to stop such acts of violence.

In a video shared by TVC, Ihunwo also called on the Commissioner of Police to take action against those causing trouble, including the outgoing chairman of Emohua LGA. He emphasized that their tenure has ended and questioned why they have refused to leave office.
