Chidi Odinkalu: I knew the innermost entrails of mortuaries in Lagos, what I saw will live with me till I die

 

Former National Human Rights Commission Chairman Professor Chidi Odinkalu has revealed that he started his law career defending those who had been the victims of extrajudicial executions.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

In an interview with Channels TV, Odinkalu said due to the nature of his work, he visited mortuaries in Lagos where he saw the terrible injuries these victims had suffered. He said his experiences with these tragic cases and the sight of so many dead bodies left a deep impact on him.

In Chidi Odinkalu’s words: “I began life as a lawyer representing dead people: victims of extrajudicial killings. I knew the innermost entrails of mortuaries in Lagos, speaking of dead bodies. The injuries I recall from what I saw and experienced, and the people I represented, will live with me until my dying days.
