The announcement of Rivers State Governor Fubara’s administrative takeover of local governments has been denounced by Chidi Lloyd, the immediate past chairman of Emohua local government, as a “military coup-style” power grab. Chidi Lloyd criticised Governor Fubara’s decision to replace elected officials with unelected heads of local government administration, describing it as an unconstitutional and authoritarian move. He stated that their tenure is not yet over because the former speaker elongated their tenue.
