CDS Christopher Musa Replied to Gen. TY Danjuma Demand That The Military Not Provide Excuses

In response to retired General TY Danjuma’s statement that the military should not provide an explanation for the insurgency in Nigeria, Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa responded. He said that all they are doing is showing what is really happening on the ground and how hard it is to fight rebellion in such a large area. He made a distinction between regular war and insurgency, saying that the target in an insurgency is unknown and can look like a normal person. He made it clear that the military is aware that the rebels are in Nigeria, but it’s hard to find them because the country is so big and has so many forests. Insurgents’ ability to move around and the time it takes for information to get to the right people are two other reasons why it takes so long to react to their actions.

His words to Arise TV: “The Armed Forces of Nigeria is very professional, and we will never make excuses.” We are only telling you what is really going on. The fact that the network covers 200,000 square kilometers is not an excuse. It is very big, and you need a lot to deal with those problems. And the worst part is that people need to understand that fighting an uprising is not the same as fighting a regular war. In conventional war, you know who your enemy is, but in an uprising, you don’t.

The person who wants to kill you is the one you think is bad and doesn’t have anything. It’s not clear to us where in Nigeria they are. Most of the time, it takes between 4 and 5 hours and 24 hours to get information from people who have seen them in a certain area. This is because the area is so big. These guys move around a lot, and most of the area you see is covered by trees.
