The ruling follows a motion ex-parte filed on November 1, 2024, by Ibrahim Muhammed, Chairman of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), and five other concerned residents.
The applicants, represented by lawyers Bashir Yusuf-Muhammad and Usman Bala-Salisu, expressed concerns about the potential withholding or delay of crucial funds meant for local governance in Kano.
In response, Justice Ibrahim Musa-Muhammad granted an Order of Interim Injunction, which prevents the AGF, CBN, RMAFC, and other relevant parties from interfering with or delaying the allocation of funds to the 44 local governments.
According to Daily Post, the order also applies to commercial banks involved in the management of these funds.
The court’s decision aims to ensure that the local governments in Kano receive the necessary financial resources to operate effectively, and it highlights the importance of timely allocations for local governance in the state.
