Galadima underlined in a video posted by Arise TV that the Supreme Court ordered all states to hold elections for local governments. He clarified that if a state does not hold local elections by the end of October, the president has threatened to reduce financing for local governments.
Galadima stated, “We heard that they will deploy 200,000 policemen to prevent Kano KSIEC from carrying out their statutory duty of conducting Local Government elections.” But the Inspector General of Police should go seek the Chief Justice of the Federation. The Nigerian Supreme Court ruled that all states must conduct local government elections. The president has now stated that if you do not comply, we will reduce local government funding in those states.
