Bitrus Pogu: We as Nigerians resist any breakup, but if they want to go their own way, they should be allowed

The president of the Middle Belt Forum (MBF), Dr. Bitrus Pogu, has harshly denounced a recent proclamation made by a northern faction announcing the creation of the Arewa Republic. Significant actions have been made by the organization, such as creating a map, raising a flag, putting on a coat of arms, and performing the national anthem. He denounced this act as traitorous and antiquated, representing an antiquated notion that such proclamations might divide or subjugate Nigeria.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

He argued that Nigeria has evolved beyond being influenced by such threats and intimidation. He emphasized that while Nigerians remain resistant to any attempts at division, those who wish to pursue secession should be allowed to do so if they choose. He suggested that this situation presents an opportunity to address and remove obstructive elements, ultimately leading to a more unified and improved Nigeria for all its citizens.

He said in an interview with The Sun, “It is unfortunate that we are still living with this archaic group of people who think that Nigeria belongs to them to dictate whatever they want and if doesn’t go their way; they fling before us the threat of breakup. Nigerians are wiser now and we would not take it from anybody. Whoever it is and for what reason they are doing whatever they are doing had better stop because Nigeria has gone beyond that level.
