Bello said that, despite his lack of authority over the state’s police force, his father was unjustly held responsible for the deaths in Kaduna while serving as governor in an interview with Seun Okinbaloye on Mic On Podcast. In contrast, he claimed, Uba Sani, the state’s current governor, is not facing the same degree of criticism or scrutiny in spite of the state’s murderous count.

In Bello’s words: “As governor my father didn’t control state police but whenever there is killing they say it is El-Rufai that is doing it. Since my boss (Uba Sani) became governor of Kaduna, I don’t see many headlines about killings in Kaduna even if they occurred, I am highlighting that to tell you the target was El-Rufai”.
