Obasanjo used pervasive corruption and poor leadership to characterise Nigeria under Tinubu’s rule as a failing state. Obasanjo’s statement was denounced by Onanuga, who claimed that the former president was not a suitable Nigerian leader.
Obasanjo came under fire from Onanuga for utilising the media to “bestow his unsolicited wisdom on leadership and governance in Nigeria.”
Onanuga noted that despite his many shortcomings, former President Obasanjo persisted in blaming those who succeeded him for the nation’s many issues.
In reaction, George indicated that Onanuga will be penalised for insulting an elder, which is not permitted in Yoruba land.
George, speaking on Nigeria Info FM, said, “An old man who could be Bayo Onanuga’s father said something, and you took him on by blasting him right, left, and centre.”That is his style since he has done it to me before; we did not meet at Ijebu Ode Grammar School.
“You can see how small he is when comparing himself to us; people give their opinions, and you insult them.”Even if you want to react, the Yoruba culture will not accept such insults from him.
“Someday he would pay back; in Yoruba land, it is not impossible for him (Onanuga) to be charmed because there will be a day after, which is more important.” He should be vigilant as he walks because it’s possible for him to be charmed.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
