Lawal noted that Obasanjo, as a former military head of state, has a deep sense of patriotism and a higher stake in ensuring the country’s success, having risked his life for Nigeria. He implied that Obasanjo’s opinions on governance should be taken seriously, given his experience and dedication to the nation.
According to him, “Well, you can have somebody like Obasanjo; he’s very active politically, and he has strong opinions. I mean, for a man who was the best president, I still think Obasanjo was the best president Nigeria ever had. I still believe so. Naturally, he would have an idea of… he would be passionate about who governs because these soldiers are really more patriotic than us, having risked their lives at one time or the other for this country.
