The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) began with preliminary strikes on radar systems in Syria, aiming to “blind” Iranian defenses and facilitate further assaults on key locations such as Tehran and Karaj. The IDF confirmed that the strikes exclusively targeted military sites to mitigate the risk of broader conflict. Despite the precision of the strikes, Israel remains on high alert for potential retaliatory actions not only from Iran but also from its allies in the region.

The operation commenced with initial waves aimed at disabling air defense systems, paving the way for subsequent attacks on military bases. This tactical approach included preemptive strikes in Syria to eliminate threats and maintain operational secrecy. The mission demanded extensive refueling capabilities, given the scale and distance of the operation.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi oversaw the operation from the Kirya base in Tel Aviv, where a senior Israeli official reported that the Security Cabinet authorized the strike during a late-night conference.

The IDF is prepared for a range of retaliatory responses from Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Syria, and Lebanon. IDF Spokesperson R.-Adm. Daniel Hagari emphasized the importance of vigilance and adherence to Home Front Command guidelines as the situation develops.
