APC's Cletus Obun "Dollar has crashed against Naira, but why are Market Prices not Crashing Along?"

Leading APC figure Cletus Obun has posed important queries about the workings of a “cartel” that is determined to undermine Nigerians. Despite the naira’s strengthening value versus the dollar, Obun voiced his concerns about the present pricing of products when discussing the increase in the energy tariff on AIT. Addressing the topic, Obun said, “The speculators at the dollar exchange market in Wuse suddenly stopped their activities, and overnight, the dollar rose to N1750 till it came down to nearly N1300 that it currently sells for. I wonder where the magic occurred. It is clear to me that a ‘cartel’ is bent on ‘sabotaging’ Nigerians.”

He added, “The dollar has crashed against the naira, but why are market prices not crashing along? This means some sabotage is taking place. However, when we put all this on the government, it seems like the government is a magician. The regulatory agency for power must come on board.
