Ajuri Ngelale Resigns As President Tinubu's Spokesman, Nigerian Reacts

With immediate effect, Ajuri Ngelale has resigned from his role as President Bola Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Media and Publicity. In addition, Ngelale has resigned from his positions as Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen and Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action. Ngelale’s resignation is due to serious medical issues affecting his family. In his statement, he mentioned that he had submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gabjabiamila, notifying him of his decision to take an indefinite leave. He explained that this difficult decision was made after careful discussions with his family, as his home situation has become increasingly challenging.

The statement from Ngelale read, “On Friday, I submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff to the President informing my office that I am proceeding on an indefinite leave of absence to frontally deal with medical matters presently affecting my immediate nuclear family.” He went on to express his hope to return to his duties once his family’s situation improves and requested privacy for his family during this time.
