According to a report by Daily Post, the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) stated that applications from individuals convicted of fraud, forgery, drug offenses, cultism, felony, or any offenses involving dishonesty would be rejected.
NELFUND further clarified, “Applications by citizens convicted of fraud and forgery, drug offences, cultism, felony, or any offences involving dishonesty would be rejected.
Others whose application would be rejected include anyone proven to have defaulted in respect of any previous loan granted by any licensed financial institution and anyone found guilty of submitting fraudulent documents and dismissed for exam malpractices by any school authority.”
Reacting to this policy, Shehu emphasized the importance of integrity, stating, “He who goes to equity must go with clean hands.” He argued that this policy should apply universally, suggesting that all political office holders should undergo rigorous scrutiny as well. “With that policy, all political office holders must submit their blood sample for drug and substance test.
