In a communique released by the Deputy Leader, Oladipo Olaitan, and Deputy Secretary General, Alade Rotimi-John, after their regular quarterly meeting on August 27, 2024, in Isanya-Ogbo, Ogun State, the group expressed that the current state of the nation has left the Nigerian people deeply perplexed.

Afenifere highlighted the widespread hardship, severe hunger, persistent insecurity, rampant inflation, and high unemployment rates that have plagued the country since Tinubu took office.

The group emphasized that these issues have significantly worsened the living conditions of the populace, leaving them in a worse state than they were at the beginning of the administration.

The group criticized the government’s reckless and indifferent attitude towards the long-term impacts of its management of public revenue.

Afenifere noted that there has been a lack of foresight and purpose in the handling of the nation’s finances, which has further aggravated the country’s economic challenges.

A particular point of concern for Afenifere was the administration’s tendency to engage in wasteful spending.

The group cited the recent purchase of an Airbus A330 jet for the President at the cost of $100 million (approximately N240 billion), and an additional $50 million earmarked for retrofitting the aircraft, as an example of unnecessary expenditure.

Moreover, Afenifere expressed dismay at other significant expenses, including the purchase of armoured Cadillac Escalade Limousine SUVs for the President at N950 million each, the N21 billion allocated for renovating a new mansion for the Vice President, the N90 billion subsidy for religious pilgrimages, and the N10 billion set aside for renovating the Presidential Lodge on Ribadu Road, Lagos.

The group condemned these expenditures, describing them as wasteful and indicative of the administration’s profligate nature.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
