Ada George says. "It is Very Worrisome That Wike Chose Port Harcourt to Release These Provocative Threats"

The comments made by Chief Ada George, a former governor of old Rivers State, regarding Chief Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, have drawn criticism from Dr. Chidi Lloyd, the former Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, and Chief Tony Okocha, a well-known member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to The Nation.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

George, who leads the Rivers Elders Leadership Forum (RELF), had addressed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in an open letter, condemning Wike’s statements made during a recent Rivers State congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In his address to the congress delegates, Wike had asserted that no one would be allowed to take the structure of the PDP from them and warned governors who might attempt to seize control and return it to others.

He threatened to create turmoil in such states and criticized those who reject the peace offered to them. George’s forum described Wike’s comments as callous, mischievous, and unacceptable, arguing that they undermine democracy and national security.

George emphasized that Wike’s high office comes with significant responsibility and that his actions and statements are at odds with the constitutional guarantees of free association and speech, provided they do not harm the Nigerian state.

He criticized Wike for allegedly violating the oaths he took upon assuming office, which are intended to protect these rights and responsibilities.

According to George, such behavior from Wike could potentially lead to a breakdown in peace and security in Nigeria if not addressed promptly. The choice of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, as the location for Wike’s provocative statements was particularly concerning to George’s forum.

“The statements and conducts of Chief Barrister Nyesom Wike if not timely checked, may lead to a breakdown of peace and security in Nigeria. That he also chose Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital to release these provocative threats is very worrisome and condemnable,” he said.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
