Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Ibrahim highlighted how BRICS+, a 10-member economic and political alliance led by China, has already approached Tinubu regarding economic cooperation and trading in the Chinese Yuan.
According to Ibrahim, China has been expanding its reach across Africa by providing loans for infrastructure projects like airports and seaports. However, he emphasized that their ultimate goal is gaining legitimacy on the continent.
He revealed that China recently proposed economic collaboration with Nigeria, but Tinubu responded by insisting on increased trade benefits before considering such an agreement.
