According to him, “Someone transferred the Lagos template to Abuja and that is why we are failing,” Momodu stated emphatically during the interview. His comments have sparked widespread discussion about the state of governance in Nigeria and the need for systemic change.

Momodu explained that the “Lagos template” refers to a model of governance that prioritizes personal relationships and political patronage over merit and competence. This approach, he argued, has been detrimental to effective governance and national development.

“Nigeria cannot keep on running on compensation, compensating my friends,” he continued, pointing out that the practice of rewarding political allies with key government positions has led to inefficiency and corruption. According to Momodu, this system hampers progress and fails to address the needs of the broader population.

Momodu’s critique extends to the broader issue of political patronage in Nigeria. He argued that the current system of governance is heavily influenced by the need to appease political allies and supporters, often at the expense of qualified and capable individuals who could drive the country forward.
