According to Ali Ndume: I have received three invitations from different opposition parties, including the PDP

During the visit, the team condemned Ndume’s removal from his position in the Senate following his accusations against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alleging that the current administration is characterized by hunger and insecurity.

Leading the visit, LP Chairman Yakubu stated, “We are here to express our condolences to Senator Ndume over the demise of his sister-in-law and to show our solidarity.” He further criticized the administration, saying, “It is unfortunate that President Tinubu and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), are running the nation with dictatorship and are intolerant of any constructive criticism.”

Yakubu presented two letters to Ndume: a condolence letter and an invitation to join the Labour Party. He urged the Senator to consider joining LP, stating, “The Labour Party needs experienced politicians like you, with your wealth of experience, to help move the country forward.”

In response, Senator Ndume thanked the Labour Party for their condolences and solidarity, emphasizing the importance of opposition in a democracy. He urged the LP to continue speaking out and holding the government accountable.

Regarding the invitation to join LP, Ndume revealed, “I have received three invitations from different opposition parties, including the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and now LP.” He expressed gratitude for the offers but clarified, “I am one of the founders of the APC and was invited to join by two great men I hold in high esteem; former President Buhari and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. You can’t just leave a house you built because a tenant asked you to do so without a cogent reason.”

Ndume also noted that he would consult with his constituents before making any decisions, saying, “Whatever the position of my people is, that will be my position.”

The visit followed Ndume’s public accusations against the Tinubu administration, in which he criticized the lack of action in tackling poverty, insecurity, and hunger. In a letter read by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the APC had asked Ndume to resign and join an opposition party, leading to his replacement as Chief Whip and Vice Chairman of Appropriation by Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno (Borno North).

After the meeting, Yakubu briefed journalists, saying, “We are here primarily to sympathize with Senator Ndume over the loss of a family member and to show our solidarity as a party that believes in fair hearing, rule of law, and has a vision for the country. Our Party (LP) and Senator Ndume are on the same page, the only difference between us is our party affiliation. We appreciate the courage of the Senator for standing by the Nigerian masses during these difficult economic challenges under President Tinubu. We are strongly behind Ndume, and our door is open for him to join our party.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
