The governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has come under fire from Minister of Niger Delta Development Abubakar Momoh for allegedly rebagging grains that the federal government had given Edo State during his administration.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
He alleged that the Edo State Governor deflected the issue of bad Governance to the Federal Government while he was addressing protesters a few days ago. He argued that by implying that poor governance is solely a federal issue, Obaseki ignores the shared distribution of resources among federal, state, and local governments. He emphasized that instead of genuinely addressing the state’s issues, many state governors misuse federal relief efforts for personal political gain.
He said in an interview with Channels TV, ”For any governor to say that he has not received the 20 trucks of rice from the Federal Government is not being fair. In the case of Edo State, you can see the video clips from social media of how people broke into warehouses and brought out these rice bag. The Edo State governor, Obaseki got his own bags of rice like other states and he rebagged it in his name. And I can say clearly that there are some state governors who are also doing this same thing. This is the same governor of Edo State who while addressing protesters said he will take their message to the Federal Government.
The impression he is giving is that the bad Governance is at the door step of the Federal Government. Whereas the resources of this economy is being shared among the three tiers of government. You would expect such a person to address the problem that we have in Edo State. How many roads has he been able to build? How many erosion problem has he been able to solve.
