A supplemental budget for the introduction of a new minimum wage is being prepared by the FG.

 

The federal government has declared that it will create a supplemental budget for the fiscal year 2024 in order to make it easier for employees to start earning a higher minimum wage. According to the DAILY POST NEWS, Idris stated that the Ministry of Budget and National Planning has been tasked with developing additional financial support for the 2024 budget. This support aims to cover any gaps between the initially approved budget and the requirements of the proposed new minimum wage. He explained, “The government has directed the Ministry of Budget to come up with additional support for the 2024 budget to address any gaps or differences between the existing budget and the current requirements.”

This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to address the concerns of Organized Labour and establish a fair wage structure for all Nigerians. President Bola Tinubu is set to meet with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and their affiliates on Thursday to finalize the new minimum wage proposal before it is submitted to the National Assembly for legislation.

Idris emphasized the government’s commitment to resolving the wage issue, stating, “The government is working tirelessly to ensure that it establishes a minimum wage that benefits all Nigerians.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
