Ifeanyi Okowa, the former governor of Delta State, has spoken out over the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) recent detention of him due to accusations of money laundering. In a video that was shared by SYMFONI TV, Okowa explained that while he was on holiday overseas, a blogger had already published a story claiming he had been detained by the EFCC for three days. According to him, this was part of a plan to create a “media trial” before any investigation had even begun. He referred to the blogger as “a small boy” who was paid to spread false stories.

“When I was overseas, they started publishing lies that I had been detained. Meanwhile, I hadn’t even been invited by the EFCC,” he said. Despite this, Okowa maintained that he is not afraid of any investigation or media attacks.

He clarified that the EFCC has the right to investigate and confirmed that they have been looking into a petition written last year. However, he believes the entire situation is politically motivated by people in Delta State who opposed his leadership and were unhappy that his party successfully supported the election of the current governor.

“I am confident we served the people well, within the limits of human ability, and followed the law. I have nothing to fear,” Okowa said. He reassured his supporters that the truth would eventually come out and expressed trust in God to vindicate him.

The former governor’s statement highlights his belief that the accusations are part of a political scheme rather than genuine concerns about governance.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
