During an interview with Channels Television on Saturday morning, Mba urged Edo residents to fulfill their civic duty by voting and then returning home immediately.

The Nigerian Ports Authority has donated the sum of N200m to the victims of devastating floods that ravaged some communities in Borno State recently.

This was contained in a statement on Saturday by the NPA.

The cheque was presented on behalf of the NPA to the Governor of Borno State in Maiduguri on Friday by the trio of the Executive Director of Engineering & Technical Services, Ibrahim Umar, Executive Director of Finance & Administration, Ms Vivian Edet, and Executive Director Marine & Operations, Olalekan Badmus.

“As a token of support for your disaster relief efforts, the Nigerian Ports Authority, under the guidance of the Honourable Minister of Marine & Blue Economy, His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola, hereby donates the sum of N200m to aid efforts at stabilising the victims as quickly as possible,” Dantsoho said.

The Independent National Electoral Commission National Commissioner in charge of Edo, Prof. Rhoda Gumus, has promised not to collect bribes during the ongoing state governorship election.

In an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Friday, Gumus asserted that nobody would dare approach her with a bribe because of her reputation.

The INEC Commissioner added that the commission will conduct the Edo governorship election in a free, fair and credible manner, adding that it would be the best conducted.

She said, “I am in charge of Edo. I want to do the right thing, even though I will not be everywhere. We will conduct this election in a free, fair and credible manner. I cannot take bribes, no matter how much. I don’t have to take billions to do what is right.

There is growing concern over the safety of residents in Kogi, Benue, and other high-risk states following the warnings from the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency about imminent flooding.

Despite advisories from the Federal Government, many remain reluctant to evacuate.The NIHSA has highlighted these states as particularly susceptible to flooding, urging residents to heed the call for evacuation.
