EXCLUSIVE: An earlier death sentence for drug trafficking was lifted for a Nigerian, freed by Indonesia

Emmanuel Ihejirika, a Nigerian, was released from prison after serving a number of years for drug trafficking in Indonesia, for which he had received a death sentence. This was revealed in a statement released on Friday by Gabriel Odu, the organization’s spokesperson, and Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM). She added that Mr. Emmanuel Isha Ogebe, a Nigerian attorney residing in Washington, DC, took up Ihejirika’s case pro gratis, which allowed for his release.
