In a statement posted on his verified Twitter account, Abubakar questioned the effectiveness of Bichi’s leadership, particularly in addressing the persistent security challenges in the region.
“Those saying that Bichi has tried for the north are not serious,” Abubakar wrote. “He headed an institution that ought to be tracing and arresting terrorists for 8 years, but did security improve or worsen in the north since when he took over?”
Abubakar’s remarks come in response to claims by some that Bichi made significant contributions to the North during his eight-year tenure. However, Abubakar dismissed these claims, arguing that the security situation in Northern Nigeria did not improve under Bichi’s leadership.
According to Daily Post, the criticism reflects the growing frustration among many in Northern Nigeria over the continued insecurity and the perceived ineffectiveness of the government’s security apparatus.
