Ife Salako, the Lagos State Labour Party Spokesperson, bluntly defended Senator Ireti Kingibe’s authority as the sole elected official in her jurisdiction after the President in an interview with News Central TV. She also insisted that Wike should defer to her authority. He highlighted Wike’s open support for an opposition party and presented evidence of election rigging in favor of the APC, orchestrated by Wike. He claimed that Wike’s actions directly impacted the election outcome, as he allegedly instructed others to manipulate the results in favor of the APC, despite the Labour Party’s purported victory in Rivers State.

He asserted that Wike’s misconduct warrants imprisonment if Nigeria’s justice system were functioning effectively.

He said, “Senator Ireti Kingibe is the only elected office after the president in that space, that should be respected and given the authority to perform her duty. So, Wike needs to understand this. Is Wike a respecter of the Constitution? Is Wike a respecter of the system and structure? No. This is a man who openly disclosed his support for an opposition party and there has been video evidences of people who he used to rig the election in favour of APC. People had come out to say Wike asked them to rig the election, Labour Party won the election in Rivers State, but they rig it for APC because Wike wanted them to rig it for APC.
