Akintola had alerted the public to an alleged scheme by the Sokoto government to depose the Sultan, following the removal of 15 traditional rulers by the state Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, for various infractions.
In a statement issued on Monday, Akintola asserted that any attempt to dethrone the Sultan would be firmly opposed by Nigerian Muslims.
Addressing the issue at the ongoing North West Peace & Security Summit in Katsina State, Vice President Shettima underscored that the Sultan transcends the role of a mere monarch, embodying a significant idea and principle.
He urged the Sokoto government to recognize this distinction and called for all traditional rulers in Nigeria to diligently protect, promote, and nurture the progress of the nation.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
