Femi Falana noted that the Rivers State government, while dissolving the local government councils whose tenure had expired, has announced plans to conduct elections soon. He expressed the view that the state is quite aware of the law which prompted the announcement of their decision.
According to him, “With respect to the appointment of a caretaker committee and soul administrator or whatever to run local government, the Supreme Court has said such practices are alien (unknown to the constitution). I suspect that the Rivers state government, while announcing the dissolution of the local government whose tenure has expired, also announced that they were going to conduct elections as soon as possible.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
