The head of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Rivers State Chapter, Chijioke Ihunwo, has expressed alarm over the growing dispute involving 21 local government area (LGA) chairmen whose mandates expire on June 17, 2024, and who have refused to resign. Ihunwo drew attention to the concerning actions of Samuel Nwanosike, the departing chairman of the Ikwerre Local Government, who was purportedly observed donning a bulletproof vest, perhaps in anticipation of a fight.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

In a video shared by TVC, Ihunwo called on the Commissioner of Police to address the situation and take measures to prevent further violence. “Go and see Samuel Nwanosike preparing for war, wearing a bulletproof; what has the CP said about that. Has he gone there?” Ihunwo questioned, expressing his frustration at the lack of police intervention.

Ihunwo also urged the Commissioner of Police to take immediate action against those instigating unrest, including the outgoing chairman of Emohua LGA. He emphasized that the tenure of these chairmen has ended and questioned their refusal to leave office.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
