According to Femi Falana: Once EFCC Has Been Directed By Federal High Court To Bring Bello To Court, It Must Be Obeyed

Femi Falana, a well-known lawyer in Nigeria, discussed the current state of affairs about former Governor Yahaya Bello’s escape from arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a video that was recently shared on Channels TV’s YouTube page. Falana recounted how, in Okorocha’s case, when the former governor resisted arrest, the EFCC did not hesitate to forcefully enter his residence, acting in accordance with the provisions outlined in the administration of criminal justice.

He noted that Okorocha was arrested and later brought before the court to face trial.

Expressing assurance in the judicial process, Falana conveyed his belief that similar procedures would be followed in the case of Yahaya Bello.

Highlighting the importance of judicial directives, Falana stressed that once the EFCC is mandated by the Federal High Court to bring Bello to court, they are legally obligated to comply with the court’s order.

He stated that unless the court order is overturned by the Federal High Court or a superior court, it must be followed without question.

“When former Governor Okorocha resisted arrest, EFCC broke into his house, in line with the provisions of the administration of criminal justice, and took him out and arraigned him in court. I am very confident that in this case, once the EFCC has been directed by the Federal high court to bring Yahaya Bello to court, that order unless it is vacated by a Federal High Court or the court of appeal, the order will have to be obeyed,” Falana stated.
