His Royal Majesty, Clement Oghenerukevwe Ikolo, Urhukpe 1, the Ovie of Ewu-Urhobo Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, has said that he is not fleeing from anyone because he was not involved in the massacre of the 17 soldiers in the Okuama community. In relation to the death, the Nigerian Army had declared the monarch and seven other people wanted. On Thursday, the king willingly turned himself in to the police so that they could question him. Speaking to the newsmen after that, the monarch said that he was following the case on television, and that he was surprised to see his name on the list of wanted persons. He said he has no hand in the killing of the soldiers in Okuama community because he does not believe in taking the life of another human being.
According to the report by Arise TV, the monarch said, “Like I said earlier, I’m not running away from anybody because I have done no wrong, I have committed no crime. And like I said, I’d rather add value to humanity than take away from humanity. My number is in the public space. I attend functions until recently with all these happenings.”
He added that he had earlier granted a press conference condemning the killing of the soldiers, adding that he is available anytime he is called upon for questioning regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that the Police have handed over the monarch to the Nigerian Army for investigation, and the Nigerian Army has flown him to Abuja.
