Why I Hired A Secret Police After I Was Accused Of Sponsoring Boko Haram –According to Senator Ali Ndume

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, the Chief Whip of the 10th Senate, has provided an explanation for why, in 2019, he hired a plain-clothes police officer following allegations that he had connections to Boko Haram terrorists. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

In 2011, Senator Ali Ndume was charged with four counts of terrorism due to his claimed connections to a Boko Haram spokesperson, as reported by the Guardian. On July 4, 2017, however, the Federal High Court in Abuja subsequently withdrew and dismissed the allegations against the senator.

During his recent interview with Channels Television, the Senator disclosed that the only time he had security personnel was when he was accused of having ties with Boko Haram. He explained that he did not employ the secret police for his own security rather as an alibi who can testify in a court of law about his whereabouts.

The Senator made this disclosure as a premise to support his argument that the Inspector General of Police should withdraw orderlies attached to his colleagues in the National Assembly, as well as other politicians in the country.

In his words, the Senator said, “I agree with that you don’t start pilling security in their (Senator’s) houses. I was attached with a secret police that time because the government want to kill me because they said I am a sponsor of Boko Haram”

“So, the IGP (Inspector General of Police) as at then attached security to me. Then, I said I don’t need one. And then I came to understand that it is safer for me to have a secret police, not for my security but in case they come and say that I went to a meeting with the Boko Haram. He will be there to say where and when I was.”

The Senator further stated that it is unfair to the people that they represent if they keep moving around with security orderlies while they stay unprotected. “What of my people, the people I represent, do they have police? In my local government, the number of police is not up to 40. Then one Senator will be going with 10 police; some even give security to their wives.” –he stated. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
