He recalled the introduction of Nigeria’s “safe school” policy, which was designed to protect educational establishments. He emphasized that there is a written policy in place with precise instructions for carrying it out. He did, however, draw attention to a notable disparity in the implementation of these security measures, especially in schools located adjacent to high-risk regions like Birnin Gwari. He was disappointed at the lack of responsibility and response after the students were abducted.
He said in an interview with Channels TV, ”Who has been queried? Who has been even told to even step aside after that incident? We are talking of 287 pupils and nothing is being said about them. We have accepted failure in security. And if we are going to change this, we shouldn’t accept failure.
