Dr Kabir: From what we know, the Kuriga town itself does not have security deployment, the police post there has been shut down

Dr. Kabir Adamu, a security expert and the managing director of Beacon Consulting Limited, has drawn attention to Kuriga town’s lack of security and the closure of the local police station. He recalled the introduction of Nigeria’s “safe school” policy, which was designed to protect educational establishments. He emphasized that there is a written policy in place with precise instructions for carrying it out. He did, however, draw attention to a notable disparity in the implementation of these security measures, especially in schools located adjacent to high-risk regions like Birnin Gwari. He was disappointed at the lack of responsibility and response after the students were abducted.

He said in an interview with Channels TV, ”Who has been queried? Who has been even told to even step aside after that incident? We are talking of 287 pupils and nothing is being said about them. We have accepted failure in security. And if we are going to change this, we shouldn’t accept failure. In 2019, we gathered the world and we launched a safe school policy for the protection of our schools.

If we have a school in that environment that is close to Birnin Gwari, I really don’t understand why that school did not have the requisite protection that could have prevented those bandits from taking them away.
