After the controversial Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary elections, the state’s deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, spoke with Arise TV about his disappointment with the participation of Dauda Lawan Dare, the governor of Zamfara State, and Sheriff Oberovwori, the governor of Delta State. He pointed out that party delegates are the ones to decide who their candidate is, not the chairman of the elections.

Philip Shuaibu said, ”It’s just unfortunate that the governor of Zamfara and my very good friend and brother, the governor of Delta State, took part in that parallel congress. But nonetheless, I think they were invited to come and preside over a cosmetic primary. Cosmetic in the sense that the delegates that were given to them for them to use to produce the next governor are not the delegates that are meant for the election.
