Yar'adua Considered 6 Companies From The 6 Geopolitical Zones To Have Cement Import Licenses -According to Iweta

According to David Iweta, National Chairman of the Cement Producers Association of Nigeria, six businesses from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones were awarded permits to import cement with the intention of lowering the price per bag from N2000 to N1000 under the administration of the late President Musa Yaradua. He voiced the opinion that, considering the importance of cement as a necessary good for meeting the basic needs of the populace, the current government need to act similarly pro-actively. He said in an interview with Channels TV, ”The administration of the late President Yar’adua considered 6 companies from the 6 geopolitical zones to have cement import licenses. So that he can crash the price of cement from 2000 that it was at that time to a N1000 naira per bag. I think the government of the day is expected to do more looking at the importance of cement being a major commodity for the three basic necessities of man which are food, clothes, and shelter.
