Addressing the topic, Auwal said, “Why are we inviting Fulani leaders across West Africa? It is because of transborder crime. You know the Fulanis have been accused of crime and criminality. There is transborder crime, but we are looking at nipping, controlling, and bringing a total stop to the security problems that are being alleged to come from the Fulanis.”
A Fulani leader from Cameroon, Alhaji Bamanga, said, “We are all Fulanis. Therefore, I am calling for unity and peace among Fulanis from Senegal, Mali, Cameroon, Nigeria, and the rest.”
Ibrahima Diallo, a Fulani leader from Mali, said, “Fulanis in West Africa are of the same roots as we are facing different security challenges. I call on Fulanis to be peaceful and remain in a place where they can build their houses and enroll their kids in school. That is the only solution to our problems.”
