Famuyibo Responded to Ndume, Said Abuja CBN office has more than 11,000 staff members, instead of 4,000

Recall that a few days prior, the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was chastised by Senator Ali Ndume and a few elders from the north for relocating certain CBN offices from Abuja to Lagos State. Ali Ndume proposed that the CBN personnel be transferred to neighboring northern states, arguing that Lagos State is already densely populated.

Famuyibo, speaking with The Nation on Monday, February 19, highlighted the danger of such statements in fueling nationwide turmoil. He criticized the ongoing attacks on the Tinubu administration, pointing out the inconsistency of political, traditional, and religious leaders who remained silent during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure but have now become vocal, playing identity politics with governance.

According to The Nation, Famuyibo stated that he had extensively consulted with Yoruba leaders domestically and internationally, revealing their growing unease with threats, subversive rhetoric, unfair criticisms, and insinuations directed at President Tinubu from these northern leaders. He emphasized that the relocation of some CBN offices from Abuja to Lagos is not based on ethnic reasons but safety concerns.

He said, “We learnt authoritatively that even Julius Berger, the construction company behind the CBN Abuja office, said that the overpopulation of the Abuja CBN office with 11,000 plus workers when it was designed for 4,000 workers could cause the structure to experience strain, yet these so-called northern leaders act like nothing was amiss.” CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
