Bala: Resources Were Allocated To The North For The Purpose Of Developing A Strong Nigeria'

Senator Bala Na’allah, a senator from Kebbi State, has claimed that funds were provided to the North in order to hasten development and guarantee the prompt resolution of issues, hence facilitating the creation of a powerful and cohesive Nigeria. He said that there was a difference in educational attainment between the southern and northern regions of Nigeria at the time of the country’s independence. He said in an interview with Channels TV, ”It appears a lot of people have not taken time to understand properly what our forefathers wanted for this country when drafting the 1960 and 1966 constitution. They had at the back of their mind to run a government that would be cost-effective for the nation. So that we can quickly grasp the challenges of becoming independent newly. Fears were taken into consideration and our constitution wanted a very strong united Nigeria.

Therefore they kept everything on the table to address the fears of every section of this country. At the time of independence, the Southern part of this country was far advanced educationally than the Northern part of the country.
