The former vice chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South-South, Emmanuel Ogidi, bluntly defended the track record of his political party, PDP, in an interview with Arise TV. Even though they might have made some mistakes in the past, he maintained that this is still the best course of action for the nation. He berated the APC, the ruling party, for its shortcomings. He claimed that the process of unifying his own party has become more challenging due to its bad governance. He said, “We have been in government for 16 years and I can tell you, we did very well. Yes, we had issues here and there. So, in comparison, we did very well and we have the magic one. We have done it before, we can do it again. APC has not done it before. For the last 8 years, what did they do? But we have done it before. Yes, we are having some internal issues but we are taking time to resolve it. Resolving issues in the family is not very easy because we need to encourage one another and that is what we are trying to do now.

The failure of the APC government has also compounded our problem because they are telling us, if we had done well, we would be here. Nothing is wrong with us the leadership. It is true we made some miscalculations here and there and that’s why we lost the election. We did not lose the election, it was stolen from us.
