In an interview with Channels TV, Falana highlighted concerns regarding the $3.5 billion loan Nigeria borrowed from the IMF, as the Auditor-General’s report suggests the funds cannot be traced. Falana emphasized the importance for the IMF to address this issue, given Nigeria’s obligation to repay the loan between 2023 and 2027. He urged the IMF to reconsider pressuring the government and he also called on the Nigerian government to assert its autonomy and prioritize the nation’s interests over external pressures

In Falana’s words: “The loan of $3.5 billion Nigeria took from IMF can’t be located, IMF should be interested in that. We are required to pay the loan in 4 years between 2023 and 2027 so the IMF should be interested in that and stop mounting pressure on the government to multiply the hardship of Nigerians.
